How To Use this Course

Objectives

When we set out to create the course, we wanted to help committed musicians with performance psychology. While it’s developing in areas such as sport and business, it’s less commonly used as a resource in the music industry. We knew that professional musicians would be interested in how they could benefit from training their mental skills. At the same time, we were aware that musicians have specific needs that differ from other performance areas, so we wanted to create a tailored course, using both evidence-based research and our lived experience.

We wanted to bring together something that would:

  1. Take a huge amount of available information about psychology and show you what really matters.
  2. Address common problems such as performance anxiety and confidence issues.
  3. Show how you can strive for excellence without sacrificing your well-being.
  4. Provide you with practical exercises that make an immediate difference.
  5. Provide you with a system you can refer back to again and again.
  6. Encourage you to better understand your mind, and develop your relationship with it.

Course Breakdown

There are 13 modules in total, you can see below exactly where each topic fits in. For each module, we’ve provided mindfulness and yin yoga exercises, so that you can practice the skills we discuss before applying them in the performance world. We’ve also included other exercises such as worksheets and reflections.
